On the afternoon of June 18, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Vice Chairman of Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee, chaired a meeting and worked with the Delegation of Global Advisory Co (Australia) to discuss solutions to promote green growth and reduce carbon emissions in Thai Nguyen province. Attending the meeting were leaders of departments, branches and branches of the province; Representative of Saigon Telecommunications Technology Joint Stock Company (Saigon Tel).

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh said: Green growth is an area of ​​special interest to Thai Nguyen province. The province has issued a Decision approving the Green Growth Action Plan of Thai Nguyen province for the period 2021-2030; At the same time, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on green growth cooperation with Saigon Telecommunications Technology Joint Stock Company.

Currently, the Government of Vietnam is completing the project to develop the carbon market in Vietnam, legal regulations related to emission reduction, greenhouse gas inventory, carbon quota allocation, financial mechanisms, exchanging and offsetting carbon credits... to gradually deploy the operation of the domestic carbon market from 2025. Therefore, the content of the working session with experts of Global Advisory Co in the field of Green growth and carbon emission reduction are important to Thai Nguyen province.

Representatives of Global Advisory Co shared their experiences in building and implementing strategic planning for sustainable development and green growth; Consulting on setting standards to promote sustainable green growth and developing comprehensive carbon reduction strategies for Thai Nguyen.

Mr. Harry Hughes, Head of Green and Carbon Strategy Department of Global Advisory Co, shared his experience in building and implementing strategic planning for sustainable development and green growth.

Accordingly, a representative of Global Advisory Co said: With abundant resources and significant forest coverages, Thai Nguyen has a lot of potential to carry out reduction projects and develop projects to absorb carbon in soil. and carbon credit production is very feasible. Through these projects, Thai Nguyen can cut emissions and generate significant revenue through the carbon credit program. That is not only consistent with environmental sustainability goals but also creates many new economic opportunities…

The two sides agreed to continue holding working sessions in the near future to discuss this content more thoroughly, with the goal of letting Thai Nguyen soon participate in the domestic and international carbon credit market.

On 17th of June, 2024, Saigontel, along with the delegation of Global Advisory, led by Mr. Harry Hughes, head of the Green Growth & Carbon Strategies Department, conducted a discussion with the Ministry of Planning and Investment special committee for Green Growth. The participants for the discussion also included representatives from the Australian Embassy in Vietnam, the Australian Chamber of Commerce and other experts on Green Growth coming from the largest Oceanian nation.

Meeting with the delegation, is Mr. Đỗ Thành Trung, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment and also head of the Department of Science, Education, Resources and Environment and other members of the Ministry.

During the session, the Australian delegation expressed their gratitude for the such admirable reception from the Ministry of Planning and Investments, the international team gave their opinions on the Government's proposed policies and commitments on green growth and net zero, noticing the essential actions for Vietnam is to expediently develop policies and projects on green growth. The Australian counterpart is primed to participate and accompany in the process of implementing these policies at both the macro level as well as in each specific locality. The delegation hopes to participate in more exchanges to have a better understanding of in-depth information in each locality.

With prior experience deploying similar projects for the municipal and local administrative bodies in Sydney and the regional south of New South Wales, Global Advisory is confident that the collective experience and technical expertise to apply their know-how on green growth policies over the decade can be enacted for deployment in Vietnam. 

On behalf of the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Deputy Minister Do Thanh Trung acknowledged the professional experience of the Australian and Global Advisory on structuring regulatory framework and deployment of green growth projects. The representatives from MoIT also share their inputs on Vietnamese administrative policies, procedural pipelines to conduct ODA projects in Vietnam and their cooperative measures when working with localities for deployment of policies and projects, in order to reach the committed objectives of reaching Net Zero by 2050 that the State government has laid out.

To initiate the discussion, the representative from Lào Cai People’s Committee gave his understanding over the opportunities and potential for commercial investment within the province, moreover the strength and advantages of the province and the long term plan of promoting green economy. Tuberia – Founder of Equipcast have together covered innovate solutions regarding policies, technologies and output contractual work from the United States, along with supporting policies between Vietnam and the United States. On behalf of Saigontel, Mr. Nguyễn Huy Đức has given his share of insights through the seminar on the closed loop industrial manufacturing supply chain in Vietnam, a topic that has recently gathered significant attention from Lào Cai’s People’s Committee, as well as international partners.

The participants of the conference have additional time to discuss and exchange more on the topics covered during the live conference that morning.
